3-30-13 At the Quad at University of Washington. This area is known for the cherry blossoms. I heard that the trees were in bloom so Doug and I went to do some long exposures. Unknown to us, there was an article about the blossoms on the front page of thevSeattle Times. So the area was teeming with people. This is a 5 min plus exposure converted to black nd white. See all the ghosting? Tell me whether you like this and find this effect interesting? I am doing a lot of experimentation with long exposures for my class.

on April 1, 2013The image itself is striking, but because of the venue ... a college campus ... a shot with no people would look odd, staged, not real. However, in this case the excessive number of people moving around and creating 'ghosts' was a little too much for my taste, a little distracting. I'd vote for a happy medium between none and many. One other tiny quibble about the composition. If possible I'd try to find a camera location that allowed a sliver of separation between the light pole and the distant building tower. These are minor criticisms of what I feel is, overall, an excellent image with many more things right than wrong.

on March 31, 2013Terrific shot! I think the ghosting is interesting; I would not necessarily say I'd prefer a shot with ghosting verus one of the same thing without, but this one is definitely interesting.

on March 31, 2013It definately adds a different type of interest to the image! I do like you previous long exposures much better though! Maybe there are just too many "ghosts" in this image for me. Love your work!
