3-30-13 At the Quad at University of Washington. This area is known for the cherry blossoms. I heard that the trees were in bloom so Doug and I went to do some long exposures. Unknown to us, there was an article about the blossoms on the front page of thevSeattle Times. So the area was teeming with people. This is a 5 min plus exposure converted to black nd white. See all the ghosting? Tell me whether you like this and find this effect interesting? I am doing a lot of experimentation with long exposures for my class.

10-14-12 Dahlia in Black and White - This was taken at Shore Acres State Park, Charleston, Oregon. They have incredible gardens including several beds of dahlias. I converted this using Silver Effex Pro 2.

10-17-12 Nautilus This was a three stop HDR where the nautilus was lit with two fluorescent continuous lights. I used my Nikon 105/2.8 VR macro. The photo was processed in Photomatix Pro and SIlver Effex Pro 2.

1-2-13 Young's Bay Bridge - This was a 25 second exposure taken using my Lee Big Stopper (10 ND filter). The black and white conversion was done using Silver Effex 2. I was thrilled to see my Snowy Owl image make it to the number one spot today.

1-3-13 Young's Bay Bridge #2 -this was a 40 second long exposure done during the afternoon with a 10 stop Big Stopper ND filter. I tone-mapped this single image exposure using Photomatix Pro and converted to Black and White using Silver Effex 2.

3-4-13 This was taken yesterday earlier in the day than the Blue Hour Image. This was a 284 sec (almost 5 minutes). I converted this to Black and White using Silver Effex 2.

4-6-13 Tillamook Bay - down on the Oregon Coast on a windy rainy afternoon. We drove out to Bay Ocean Spit before the rain started pelting. I did some long exposure work for my class/project until I got drops on my filter. I used 13 stops of ND and exposed this image for 357 sec ( almost 6 minutes).

4-7-13 Tillamook Bay, Oregon. This was taken at the same time as the image I posted yesterday. I used my Lee Big Stopper for 10 stops of ND compared to 13 stops. I am taking a long exposure class where I am earning to vary the exposures. 6-3-13 Here s another Bellevue building reflection that I shot today at lunch. I used my Lumix gh-2 which I hadn't shot with for a while. I am having a problem with the eye sensor on my Nikon V1 so I am giving it some time off and will go back and decide next steps on it most likely next week.

8-2-13 Evening at the Deserted Market - this is a black and white Hdr that was created in photomatix pro by merging 3 jpegs created in the Fuji x100s in B+W with red filter mode. This camera is so much fun and lends itself to creative experimentation.
Terry asked me if I ever took a shot for the top of the ferris wheel and the answer is a big "NO". It would take someone paying me a lot of money to get on the ride although I am fascinated by it.Ilene Samowitz20130731DSCF0667hdrx
