Read More9-30-12 Swinomish Channel, Washington. This is a 7 exposure HDR processed in Photomatix and LR 4. I am always so happy when I can actually post an image the same day it was taken. Almost missed though since this was posted so late, almost midnight.
Thanks for all the positive feedback on yesterday's image of the Coquille Lighthouse.

10-1-12 Swinomish Channel - A different view of the channel so that you can see across to La Conner and further to the peak of Mount Baker. This was processed the same way as yesterday's with a 7 stop HDR and LR 4.
Thanks for all the great feedback on yesterday's close up of the channel.

10-9-12 Persistence. I really liked the name of the boat as well as all the crab nets and the weathered texture. This was a 5 image HDR processed in Photomatix and Color Effex Pro 4.
In response to the questions about the Bandon workshop, this is the 5th workshop that I have gone on put on by Darrel Gulin and Jean Carter. They last for about 6 days. What I like the most about these workshops is going to interesting locations with a group of other photographers whose work I really like. Many people have gone to multiple workshops that have been put on for many years. In addition to having very knowledgeable leaders there are some amazing photographers. I like to see the different interpretations and images that come out of the workshop when we have all been photographing at the same time and how varied and different they are both by vision and skill. I also like having the concentrated time to devote to shooting and classroom. Overall I really enjoy these workshops and will be going to the Oregon Cascade Workshop next October.

10-29-12 La Conner Waterfront. I find this town on the Swinnomish Channel to be a vibrant and fun place to photograph. This was taken across the channel from the town's main street. This was processed in Photomatix Pro and Color Effex Pro.

12-24-12 Garibaldi Marina - I was able to shoot this image this morning. I was finally able to get out and try shooting with my new Lee Big Stopper (10 stop ND) that I bought about a month ago. First chance that the weather permitted a long exposure that I was able to get out. This is a three exposure stack 25 sec, 30 sec, and 40 sec.

4-30-13 This was taken earlier today with my iPhone 4. I processed it on my iPad using iPhoto and then added a texture using PS Touch. I then added a frame using Snapseed and uploaded it to Smugmug using Camera Awesome. I know the description sounds long and complex but it took less than 10 minutes from beginning to end. It would be faster if I was more adept with these apps.
This is probably the 4th or 5th time I shot the Mary D Hume but every time it is different. Today was the lowest tide that I was there for and very cool because you can actually see her in the mud. From PAD2013
5-4-13 I shot this image earlier today at low tide with my Nikon 1 V1 in Bay City, Oregon. I processed it on my ipad and uploaded to Smugmug using Camera Awesome. This image is an example of how important it is to take a photo when you see it. Here is the shipwreck the last time I photographed it. http://www.ilenesamowitz.com/Photo-A-Day/PAD2012/27352292_Mgj3r6/1993820141_ZHKGSST#!i=1993820141&k=ZHKGSST&lb=1&s=A

7-20-13 B is for Buoy.... In Westport, WA and this is the first image I am posting with my brand new Fuji x100s. There is so much hype around this camera and I hope it lives up to it. This is a jpeg SOOC using the Velvia setting and uploaded via camera awesome on the ipad. Camera awesome is a smugmug app that allows for uploading to your gallery. I just wish that it did not strip your exif data from the camera. Let me know what you think of the quality of the images.

9-17-13 This is a decaying boat. It seems that I am attracted to decaying objects. This is a 5 shot HDR taken with my Nikon D800e and the super sharp 85 f1.8 (according to DxO the sharpest 85 on the market). Sweet Bokeh as well (not quite as nice as the 1.4 but about 35% of the cost).
I also used Color Effex Pro 4 using the cross processing filter.Ilene SamowitzSkagitWashington20130915IS07310hdrx
